Orthotics
Foot orthotics are commonly used in the treatment of a number of lower limb conditions. They act to alter abnormal biomechanical stresses on the components of the lower limb or to alter weight-bearing pressures on the foot.
Functional foot orthotics can assist the following:
- Plantar fasciitis/fasciosis
- Hallux valgus (bunions)
- Sesamoiditis
- Nerve entrapment (Morton’s Neuroma)
- Tendinopathy
- Lower limb stress fractures
- Tibial periostitis (shin splints)
- Patello-femoral pain syndrome
- Support and cushioning for arthritic and/or diabetic feet
Our orthotics are manufactured from EVA, a high density composite foam material that is comfortable, user-friendly and suitable for a range of loads, foot pathology and activity levels.
Dr Gerard Taylor and Sports Podiatrist Jason Rzepecki conduct customised orthotic assessments using state-of-the-art computer technology to measure your biomechanical foot signature. Our orthotic technician then combines computer technology and manufacturing systems (CAD/CAM) to produce your customised functional foot orthotics.
At Sportsmed Subiaco, our orthotics can usually be manufactured and ready for use within a twenty-four hour period. Health fund rebates may apply, consult your health fund.
